There are so many interesting things to do in Singapore, the “Little Red Dot” of Asia. With a huge number of places to visit. Singapore is the little island that holds great opportunities—that's what this country is known for. Apart from Singapore being an amazing bustling city, this country also boasts of sites and delights that are worth travelling miles for (Literally just a few miles, Singapore is very small!). In fact, Lonely Planet just gave it the top country destination award! So while most people can't wait to get out of their city, in Singapore, we can't wait to to join the tours and activities to explore Singapore even more. From Sentosa Island to the Singapore Zoo, Singapore has a bunch of great places to visit and things to do!

Sentosa Island

You cannot go to Singapore without adding Sentosa Island to your list of places to visit. Sentosa Island is basically the ‘get out of the city’ haven for Singaporeans, with beautiful beaches and great places to visit such as Fort Siloso and a number of bars and beach-side eats. We have dedicated a section to Sentosa Island below!

Marina Bay

Another great place to visit in Singapore is Marina Bay. It is exactly what it sounds like: a recently renovated bay-side section of Singapore. It offers wonderful views and spaces, which can be hard to find in busy Singapore! Not just that, it offers excellent dining options as well. Touring in Marina Bay has been made easier as well. With the Marina Bay Segway tour under your feet, it will absolutely be a pleasure. There is the famous smaller cousin of the Merlion here as well, gushing water into the bay 24 hours a day and making for excellent photo opportunities! There is a bit of a legend behind this mythical creature, which can be explored in detail on Sentosa Island. All in all, Marina Bay is definitely a place to visit while in Singapore.

Marina Bay Sands

Be sure to visit Marina Bay Sands after you tour around Marina Bay! This is another wonderful place to visit in Singapore, especially if you plan on doing some shopping. With many great stores inside boasting the biggest, most luxurious brands, you will be spoilt for choice! Of course, if you’re not planning on spending too much there are also many other big brands. You can also pop into the casino if you’re thinking of trying to earn a little extra cash to spend on those big names.

Be sure when you are here to roam up to the top for the fabulous views of Singapore and out over the Singapore Strait. There is a great bar called Ku De Ta which makes for a perfect relaxing place to visit while enjoying the view and fresh air.

Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay, which houses a lot of botanical plant species, should be another top place to visit. The park itself is wonderful to walk through, and stopping for a bite at a cafe near the conservatories is very relaxing. We recommend opting for a ticket to enter the Gardens by the Bay conservatories as they are filled with beautiful flowers and plants from all around the world. It is also air-conditioned, so the experience is not only educational and stimulating, but also comfortable! You can find discounted tickets here on BeMyGuest.

Singapore Zoo

The Singapore Zoo is quite a popular place to visit, and features an impressive array of wildlife. It boasts many enclosures showcasing animals from around the world, many endangered. The Singapore Zoo is one of the better Zoos in the world. This place can take up half a day as it has many sections to explore and makes for a leisurely adventure.

Shopping? Oh yes! For shopping, proceed to Bugis Street and see restored shop houses that are filled with of everything that you can ever imagine: little trinkets, fashion bargains, mobile phone accessories, and more. If that's not enough, there are more affordable finds in Mustafa Centre and Lucky Plaza. If you're good at haggling, then welcome to your personal paradise!

If you’re looking for some of the bigger brands and a very large selection of shops, then you want to head to Orchard Road, which is basically a huge area filled with shopping malls. A whole day can be spent roaming around this street. Here’s a tip: Head to Far East Plaza for a tucked away maze of shops selling cheap shoes and clothes.

Dining in Singapore

Singapore has a lot of food. The culture is very food-focused, with many dishes having held onto their roots, with generations working on them and serving them at the many Hawker Stalls.

Fun, romance and food - get all of these in one place. Well, in a moving cable car actually. A luxurious sky-high dining experience awaits, complete with a stunning 360-degree view of Singapore's skyline and Sentosa Island, a couple's dinner will be like one set in the movies.

If that's a bit too high for a traveller's liking, Singapore also has an on-land dining spot like no other. In Flee Away Café, they serve palatable meals cooked with a twist. Some of the locals' favourites include Le Char Kuey, Beef Hash Pie Tee, and Chicken Wing Dings. They also have a killer bowl of Tomato Soup!

How to Get Around Singapore

The public transport system in Singapore is amazing! If you're a tourist who's not familiar with their system, just buy the TransitLink Guide as it has, in detail, all the bus and MRT routes available. Most of their bus lines also have websites that you can check out if you want to plan ahead.

Climate and People

If you are visiting Singapore for the first time, take note that the sunny country of Singapore now serves home to over 5.47 million people, that's up 1.3% from the year before. It's no wonder really as the land has a tropical rainforest climate that most people prefer.
